The parade serves as our annual fundraiser. This year our goal is to raise $17,500 for:
$10,000 for ten 2007 scholarships to Eastern Baltimore County school students (continuing to reward outstanding local students for helping improve Middle River’s water quality—We awarded and paid $15,000 to 20 high school students over the past 2 years selected for our Middle River Watershed leadership program—We appreciate your support to continue this in 2007!)
$5,000 for two hundred 2007 scholarships to Baltimore County children ages 8 – 14 (continuing to enable access to meaningful Bay experiences to local children-again, over 7,500 children have benefited from our programs already during our first 4 years! That’s Baltimore County kids from 23 elementary schools, 8 middle schools, 8 high schools, 8 police athletic league centers, and 30 other Baltimore County organizations. We appreciate your support to continue this in 2007!)
$2,500 toward the restoration of a National Treasure, 1911 Skipjack Nellie L. Byrd (“Nellie”-the 2nd largest working Chesapeake Bay Skipjack-will serve as a floating classroom for children of all ages as the centerpiece of our maritime museum. We appreciate your support to restore this national treasure!)
