Happy Participants From Our Programs
Baltimore County children participants represent 24 Elementary Schools, 8 Middle Schools, 8 High Schools, 8 Baltimore County Police Athletic League Centers, 4 Baltimore County Recreation & Parks Summer Camps, and 10 other Baltimore County resident serving organizations. Our engaging, hands-on programs in this division offer a 257 area curriculum that centers around:
- Chesapeake Bay Stewardship with an emphasis on Fisheries Habitat Restoration
- Maritime History Education Programs & Cultural Acitivities
- Boating Safety Education Programs, Sailing Programs, and Family Boat Building Programs
- Exploring Shallow Waters by Canoe, Kayak, Water Quality Testing, SAV identification & plantings, and Seigning
- Exploring Deep Waters by programs aboard Seaclusion–Water Quality Testing, Reef Ball Deployment, Crabbing, Fishing, Oystering/Dredging (with hand scrape)

Beginning September 1, 2009, we will be accepting applications for 2010 program dates on a rolling enrollment basis. Suggested class size at our site is 12-15 children per program. Applicants are encouraged to specify their top three preferred 2010 program days and times between June and August to increase the likelihood that they will be awarded one of their choices depending on availability. We’re mobile and programs at your site could range between 45 minutes to 8 hours. Most popular programs at our site are scheduled as 4-8 hour daytime field trips.
WHO CAN ENROLL?
We invite children ages 8 – 18 to participate in our Chesapeake Bay Children’s Gateway® programs. Participants can be self-nominated or enrolled by their parents, teachers, principals, guidance counselors, social workers, community associations.
